QUESTS

GENERAL

Quests range in terms of difficulty, with Tasks being the simplest to perform and the other types requiring a number of fanworks in a sequential order to successfully complete. There are several rules for questing, which are as follows:

  • You must send a completed Quest Form to staff every single time you undertake any kind of official quest. Failure to do so will mean that your fanwork doesn't count for quest completion, so be sure to remember this part!

  • You must register the questing mirn's inventory/equipment loadout for each quest, which cannot be changed through the duration of the quest.

  • You may participate in multiple different quests with the same mirn at one time with differing loadouts for each quest.

  • Quest fanworks must incorporate each quest step's prompt to be counted as a valid quest fanwork for a particular step.

  • Quest steps must be completed in order.

  • Some rewards, such as badges, can only be earned once per player rather than once per mirn.

  • Quests can be abandoned at any time.

  • Losses to enemies doesn't necessarily mean the quest can't still be completed; check each quest's steps for more details.

Be sure to read quest rewards carefully, as most larger quests have set rewards that cannot be changed.

TASKS

Tasks are simple, single-step quests that can be completed at any time and as many times as desired. Twice a week, Task fanwork featuring a mirn using a particular stat can be submitted to earn two points towards that stat instead of the standard one point.

AVAILABLE TASKS

GRAVE GROVE

A quiet day spent in the Grave Grove tending the living remains of friends and family gone before is a chance to bring small offerings, trim and prune the greenery, and reminisce about loved ones departed.

TREE OF STORIES

Sharing tales at the Tree of Stories is a popular pastime in most mirn villages, and Sunrise is no exception. With dusk fading into night and under the gentle glow of the lights strung through the branches overhead, will you tell stories or make new ones?

GREETING THE SUN

One doesn’t have to be part of the priestesshood to enjoy watching the sun break over the village each morning. Whether it’s a moment of quiet tranquility or preparation for a busy day, sunrise is something special and a beautiful view.

"PEST" CONTROL

The town has been absolutely overrun by glowmice, and while they’re very cute it’s beginning to get out of hand. Solette refuses to let anyone harm the little creatures though, leaving you with a choice of either dealing with the chaos or finding a creative solution to clear them out.

RARE VISITORS

Sunrise is pretty out of the way, and visitors from the other towns are a rare occasion. Is it travelling merchants, pilgrims to the temple, would-be sightseers, or family coming to call?

HOUSEKEEPING

Living under the roots of a tree is pleasant but has its drawbacks, and things can get awfully stuffy sometimes. There’s plenty to be done, whether it’s opening things up to let some sunlight and fresh air in, sweeping out fallen soil, tending your garden, or hanging out some laundry to dry… and of course, there’s always the small pleasure of relaxing after a hard day of work.

TASTE-TESTING

Hestian has shut himself away for the last three days, and based on the delicious smells coming from the bakery he’s come up with something good. Every experiment needs a taste tester, don’t you think? The only trick will be beating Solette to the front of the line.

THUNDERSTRUCK

Climbing Thunder Point has been the subject of childhood dares since time out of mind, but it’s another thing entirely when a storm whips up in the middle of making the climb. Will you have to face the elements yourself, or come to the rescue of someone else who’s regretting their poor decisions?

MARKET DAY

The marketplace is the vibrant center of Sunrise, and Market Day is when the best of the best is on offer. It’s a great place to visit, grab a snack, and browse the stalls and wares to pick up something for yourself or a friend!

A DAY AT THE LAKE

Storm Lake is only a day’s trip away, and it’s a popular spot for a day of relaxation among the mirn of Sunrise. Boating, fishing, swimming, and relaxing on the grass with friends all seem like a nice way to spend an afternoon, don’t you think?

DARK AND STORMY NIGHT

Lightning isn’t a rare sight living so close to Thunder Point, but storms in the Basin are much rarer and can present a real problem when you live surrounded by large trees. Between getting prepared, riding out the storm itself, and cleaning up afterwards, there’s a lot to be done!

A REGULAR OCCURENCE

Booker and Solette are having a fight, and nobody’s quite sure why but it definitely makes life in the village uncomfortable. Maybe you can help try to smooth things over?

FALLEN GIANTS

The sheer size of some of the Basin’s trees means that it’s a big deal when one falls. Will you rush to the rescue when a tree comes crashing down on the houses of the village, or spend a day in the wilds exploring the remnants of a great tree long since felled?

REPOTTING

The problem with keeping sunflowers in the village, setting aside the fact that they grow up into some of the most terrifying creatures in the Basin, is that they are a goddamn nuisance. One has decided to plant itself directly in your doorway, but repotting it might be a bit of a risky endeavor if you value your fingers...

GONE MISSING

A small child from the village has gone missing, last seen on the edges of the forest, and the parents are absolutely frantic. It’s only natural to want to help; after all, Sunrise may have an oddly cordial relationship with its creatures, but the beasts of the wild Basin aren’t nearly so predictable!

TRAVELING TALES

Most mirn are literate, but books are a rarer treat than one might think when compared to storytelling. The exception to the rule are a few travelling storytellers who carry books with them, and one has just arrived in town… who knows what they have to offer?

LOVE(PEEP) PROBLEMS

Booker’s lovepeep is driving him absolutely insane, which is saying something considering that it’s already a pushy little thing at the best of times. Do you have any creative ideas to try and distract it?

UP TO NO GOOD

Nobody’s entirely sure what to make of the Wanderer, but he’s become a bit of a fixture in the village since he showed up out of the wilds. Still, it’s always a mystery what he’s thinking, and he’s looking for someone to help him with a laundry list of… odd requests. What does he want you to get, and what’s he planning on doing with it? And will anyone end up eaten as a result?

IT'S RAINING GLIM

For a few days now, glim has been literally falling from the sky. Or rather, off of the cliffs; not enough to really make or break anyone’s fortune, but enough that it’s driving people to some ill-considered schemes about figuring out what the source is. Do you want to try and make your fortune, or try and convince your friends and neighbors that there’s a reason people don’t scale the sides of the Basin?

FREELANCER

Freelancer Quests are more involved, five-step tasks that must include at least one enemy encounter fanwork in addition to the fanwork for each step. Enemy encounters can be chosen from the enemy pool for each quest, and quests may still be completed in the event of an enemy loss as long as the other quest steps are followed. Freelancer Quests may be completed once a week per mirn. Each quest has its own unique badge to be earned the first time any of your mirn completes the quest, as well as a boost to a particular stat for the featured mirn. Be sure to read rewards carefully, as you cannot choose which stat is increased! Quest steps may be completed without featuring the rewarded stat.

BUSIEST BAKER

Challenge Rating: Easy

DESCRIPTION

For his part, Hestian has absolutely no problem strong-arming you into helping him run his errands, and he’ll pile you high with deliveries and a shopping list if given half a chance. In all fairness though, working for him isn’t without its rewards; if you want to sign up for chores, you’d better arrive early, because half the youngsters in Sunrise do odd jobs for him in exchange for a sugary treat when the work is done.

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS

Challenge Rating: Medium

DESCRIPTION

Nobody goes hungry in Sunrise, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t nice to have some spare glim in the bank. For a lot of mirn with some degree of combat training, signing on to guard one of the caravans that traverse the Basin is a good opportunity for a payday but it’s not without its risks; the wildlife out in the forests reach impressive sizes, and for many of them a caravan of mirn is nothing more than a tempting snack.

BOOKER’S BOUNTY

Booker seems to live his life perpetually on the edge of a nervous breakdown, and it’s almost painful to watch the good-natured banker constantly take on more than he can handle. SILENT HUNTER

Challenge Rating: Hard

DESCRIPTION

As fond as most of the inhabitants of Sunrise have become of their local wildlife, not everything out there is harmless; even Solette and Wanderer are willing to admit some creatures just can’t be befriended and pose a threat to the village. Similarly, hunting is a fact of life when you live that deep in the wilderness. Since it’s something that has to be done anyways, why not take the chance to hone your skills and make a little glim on the side?

REWARDS

A VERY SUSPICIOUS MIRN

Challenge Rating: Hard

DESCRIPTION

Nobody ever really volunteers to do odd jobs for the Wanderer, so much as it just sort of happens; you’ll be going about your business in the village, and then he’s shown up out of nowhere completely unannounced, and suddenly you’ve agreed to something that definitely wasn’t part of your intended plans for the day. Still, when you live in a village filled with creatures (some of them large and toothy), it always seems best to keep the strange mirn happy...

REWARDS

  • "A Very Suspicious Mirn" Badge

  • +10 Speed

  • Quest-Exclusive Pet (rename this to actual pet name once we make one up, lol)

STEPS

  • Speak to Wanderer about a missing pet.

  • Venture into the wilds to search for the pet.

  • Rescue the pet from a trap.

  • Return the pet to Wanderer.
